PA Power O out of I Form Pro sells the Power O run action to the play side before the QB pulls it back for a play-action pass. The diagram shows a flat route from the FB out to the boundary, a corner/flag route from the TE breaking outside vertically, a wheel-style route from the HB releasing up the numbers on the opposite side after selling run fake, and a deep in-cut route from the outside WR sitting down in the middle of the field around the second level. This is a man beater off the play-action run fake, with the primary read starting at the TE corner route against overmatched linebackers, working down to the HB wheel if the safety bites on the run action, and checking to the underneath drag/in route as the layered outlet.

Defensive Reads

Man coverage teams that bring the strong safety into the box to defend the run are the most vulnerable, the HB wheel route wins one on one against linebackers who lose the fullback in coverage. Cover 3 shells with a single high safety struggle to defend the TE corner route and the HB wheel simultaneously, forcing the deep defender to choose. Watch for a user-controlled linebacker spying the fullback flat route, if he sits underneath the throw window to the TE corner opens up over the top. Zone drops with a hard flat defender jumping the fullback route can be beaten by the deep in-cut route settling behind the linebackers in the void. Cover 4 or match quarters coverage disguised as run support can bracket the corner route, in this case check down to the underneath drag rather than forcing the deep throw.

Usage Tips

Run this from run-heavy personnel packages after establishing Power O and HB Iso earlier in the drive so linebackers and safeties key the run fake and bite downhill.

Use PA Power O on second and short or third and short to maximize the run fake credibility and force linebackers to commit before the pass routes develop.

Read the strong safety pre-snap, if he is stacked in the box or creeping down expecting run support, throw the TE corner or HB wheel immediately since the coverage shell is thin behind him.

Hot route the backside WR into a shallow drag or spot route if you diagnose man coverage across the board, giving yourself a quick underneath answer against blitz looks.

Pair this play in sequence with Power O and HB Blast Alert Z Lookie so defenders overreact to the run action, then hit them with the wheel or corner route for an explosive gain.
