Man coverage on the outside receivers does not affect this play, but be aware of safeties rotating down into the box pre-snap, which signals run support and a tougher interior matchup. Blitz packages that send extra defenders through the A and B gaps can beat this play quickly, so if you see a nano blitz or heavy interior pressure look, be ready to check to a bounce-outside run instead.
Usage Tips
Use HB Lead Dive on early downs in short yardage or when you need to establish tempo and control clock against aggressive defensive fronts.
Check the defensive line spacing pre-snap: if the interior is stacked with extra defenders in the box, consider audibling to HB Toss or HB Stretch to get outside instead of forcing it inside.
