Inside Zone WK is a weak side inside zone run out of the I Form Pro 21 personnel set, sending the HB behind the fullback lead toward the weak side of the formation. The offensive line executes a zone blocking scheme, sliding as a unit toward the play side while the fullback leads through the hole to pick off the first threat in the box. The primary read progression starts with the HB pressing the weak side A gap, then bending back to the cutback lane if the play side is clogged by an extra defender or overpursuing linebacker.
Watch the weak side linebacker depth pre-snap, if he is playing tight to the line at less than four yards he can shoot the gap before the fullback gets there and blow up the play Look for the middle linebacker flow, if he keys the fullback lead too fast and flows hard to the play side the cutback lane opens up behind him Man coverage shells with linebackers locked onto the fullback in coverage leave the box light and this run hits fast for positive yardage Stacked box fronts with eight or more defenders including a strong safety cheating down shut this play down since the zone blockers cannot account for the extra number User controlled defenders flying downhill on run keys can be baited by selling the play action fake first with PA Power O to slow their trigger before coming back to this inside zone look
Check the box count pre-snap and only run this into light boxes of six or fewer defenders since the fullback lead only accounts for one extra blocker beyond the zone scheme
Identify weak side alignment before the snap, if the defense shows an overload to the strong side this play attacks the vacated weak side gap for an easy cutback lane
Use manual fullback lead blocking with the right stick to seal off the first unblocked defender in the hole instead of trusting the CPU block, this is critical against user controlled linebackers who try to shoot gaps
Pair this with HB Stretch Alert X Lookie and 26 Duo Alert X Lookie in your play calling sequence so the defense cannot key on one zone concept, alternating stretch and inside zone forces linebackers to freeze on their fits
Run this on early downs like first and ten or second and short to keep the defense honest, avoid calling it on clear passing downs where defenses stack the box expecting run
