This is primarily a man beater designed to win on double moves and vertical speed, with the progression starting outside on the go routes, working inside to the TE breaking route, and checking down to the flat as a last resort.

Defensive Reads

Read the safeties first. Two deep safeties in a shell will squeeze both go routes, so shift your eyes to the TE breaking route working underneath. Watch linebacker depth and reaction to the play fake. If linebackers step up hard on the run action, the vertical passing lanes and the TE crosser both open up behind them. Identify single high safety looks pre-snap. A one high shell with man coverage on the outside is the green light to take a shot on either go route immediately. Track user controlled defenders dropping into deep thirds or playing lurk in the middle of the field, since they can jump the TE breaking route if you stare it down. Recognize blitz packages by counting box defenders. If the defense brings extra rushers, get the ball out fast to the flat outlet or the TE route before the protection breaks down.

Usage Tips

Use PA Gos on early downs or manageable third downs when defenses respect the run out of I Form personnel, since the play action fake needs linebackers to bite for the vertical shots to open up.

Check safety depth before the snap. If both safeties are deep and rotated to a two high shell, key on the TE breaking route working to the middle since the go routes will likely be capped.

Against man coverage with no safety help over the top, take the shot on the boundary go route immediately off the play fake, especially if you see a cornerback playing with inside leverage.

Hot route the FB or flat option into a quick out or flat route if you expect a blitz, giving yourself a built in answer against pressure looks.
