Overview

Fix Offense is a 310 play specialty book that runs bigger than 84 percent of the game's offensive specialty playbooks, and it spends that volume on one idea: control the game from under center. Singleback alone accounts for 168 plays across 13 sets (54 percent of the book), which is an enormous amount of tagging room inside a single formation family. Shotgun is the secondary engine at 88 plays over 6 sets (28 percent), so you get a real dropback and spread element without the book ever becoming a Shotgun playbook. Everything else is situational weight: I Form at 21 plays in a single set, Pistol at 18 in one set, Goal Line Offense at 12, and 3 Hail Mary plays across 2 sets.

The concept list tells you how the two halves connect. Power, Power Run, Counter, Toss and Dive give you a downhill run tree, and Play Action sits right on top of it, which is the entire point of a Singleback and I Form heavy book: the run look and the play action look are identical until the handoff fake. Through the air you get Flat, Spot and Cover 3 Beater concepts plus Motion tags, so you are attacking zone structures with route distribution rather than relying on isolated one on one wins. Sample plays like FB Dive out of the heavy sets, Bench in both Singleback and Shotgun, 494 F Flat, and 45 Quick Base show the spread: gap runs, stick and spot rhythm throws, and flood style attacks all live under the same formation umbrella.

Personnel runs from 23 (2 RB, 3 TE, 0 WR) all the way to 10 (1 RB, 0 TE, 4 WR), with 11, 21, 12 and 13 filling the middle. That range is the selling point over a one dimensional book. You can open a drive in 11 Shotgun, shift to 12 or 13 Singleback on second down without leaving your primary formation family, and finish inside the five from Goal Line Offense or 23 heavy personnel. Choosing Fix Offense means you want a huddle where the Singleback formation page is your entire playbook and the other five formations exist to change the picture, not to change your identity.

Scheme Fit

Fix Offense wants a pocket passer with good play action and short accuracy ratings rather than a scrambler, because the book's value comes from selling the Power and Counter fake and then hitting Spot and Flat concepts on rhythm. You need a downhill back with high trucking and carrying, a fullback or extra tight end who can actually block for FB Dive and the 23 personnel looks, and at least two tight ends since 12 and 13 groupings carry a real share of the Singleback page. Pick this playbook if you enjoy long possession drives, pre snap personnel manipulation, and punishing defenses that over commit to the run, and pass on it if your identity is spread passing or quarterback designed runs.

Strengths

  • Singleback's 168 plays over 13 sets give you the deepest single formation menu in the book, meaning you can carry an audible package that never leaves one formation family while still switching personnel from 10 to 13 and changing the defense's fit responsibilities every snap.
  • The Power, Power Run, Counter, Toss and Dive tree paired with Play Action out of the same Singleback and I Form looks creates genuine run pass conflict, so a linebacker who crashes the gap on your Counter look is out of position when you run the identical play action off it.
  • Cover 3 Beater, Spot and Flat concepts with built in Motion tags mean you can beat zone with route distribution instead of hot route hunting, and motioning a receiver across pre snap gives you a free man or zone read before the snap.
  • Having both Bench in Singleback and Bench in Shotgun lets you run the same route concept from two completely different backfield pictures, so opponents cannot key the concept off the formation alone.
  • The 21 play I Form set plus 12 Goal Line Offense plays and 23 personnel give you a legitimate short yardage and red zone package, including FB Dive, which spread heavy books simply do not have access to.

Weaknesses

  • At 54 percent Singleback, the book is extremely predictable by formation, and a user who sets his defense to a base Cover 3 or Cover 2 shell against your Singleback page removes half your answers before you even audible.
  • Pistol and I Form each live in a single set (18 and 21 plays), so there is almost no tagging depth once an opponent recognizes and sits on those looks, and you cannot rotate between multiple Pistol or I Form sets to hide your tendencies.
  • With only 6 Shotgun sets and 88 total Shotgun plays, obvious late down passing situations funnel you into a narrow menu, and the book offers no Empty style volume to punish heavy blitz packages that plug the gaps your Power and Counter plays want.
  • There is no true no huddle spread identity here, so if you fall behind by two scores the run heavy Power, Toss and Dive concepts become dead weight and you are left leaning on Flat and Spot underneath throws that take too long to move the clock.
  • Only 3 Hail Mary plays across 2 sets and no deep vertical concept listed means your end of half and end of game desperation package is thin, and Goal Post is essentially your only true shot answer from that group.

Usage Tips

Build your primary audible page entirely inside Singleback and pick four sets that share a backfield alignment, so you can flip between a Power run, a Play Action shot and a Spot concept on any down without tipping anything pre snap.

On first and second down between the twenties, lean on Singleback and I Form Power, Counter and Toss to force the defense into run fits, then call the matching Play Action from the same look on the very next snap in the same series.

Save Shotgun for third and 6 or longer, and use the Bench and 494 F Flat concepts there against zone, motioning a receiver inside first to confirm whether the defense is in man or zone before you commit to the flood side.

Inside the five yard line and on fourth and 1, go to Goal Line Offense and 23 personnel with FB Dive, and keep 45 Quick Base available from Singleback as your quick hitting change up when the defense stacks the interior.

Use your 18 play Pistol set sparingly as a tendency breaker in the second half, since it shows a run friendly depth without the fullback, which forces a user defender to read the mesh instead of pre committing to a gap.
