494 F Flat out of Pistol Strong is a five man route concept built with a deep dig, a corner route, an out breaking route to the boundary, a flat route to the numbered receiver marked 1, and an F back release into the flat behind the line. The two inside receivers stem vertically before one breaks into a corner route and the other works back across the field on a deep dig, while the flat route to the #1 receiver on the strong side gives you an instant underneath answer against soft coverage. This is a man beater at its core since the dig and corner combo stresses linebackers and safeties who have to carry vertical routes in man, but it also holds value against zone since the flat and F flat routes create a natural high low read on the underneath defenders. Primary progression starts with the flat route to #1, then works to the F back leaking underneath, and finally climbs to the dig or corner if the coverage bites on the shorter routes.
