Overview

Sim Focusedtargeting Ba Offense is a 191 play specialty book that deliberately splits its identity between spread passing and heavy downhill running. Shotgun leads the way with 50 plays across 4 sets (26%), but Singleback at 46 plays (24%) and I Form at 38 plays (20%) mean nearly half of the book comes from under center. Add Strong I's 28 plays (15%) across 3 sets and you are looking at a playbook where 2 RB personnel (21, 22, 23) is a genuine base package, not a novelty. That is the core selling point: you can run 11 personnel Shotgun concepts like Curls and Bench, then come back on the same drive with FB Dive, 0 1 Trap and 45 Quick Base out of Strong I and I Form without ever leaving the playbook.

The concept list backs up that balance. Power, Power Run, Counter, Toss and Dive give the run game multiple blocking schemes rather than one repeated gap play, and the Play Action, Motion, Spot, Flat and Cover 3 Beater tags mean the passing side is built to punish defenses that overcommit to the box. Play Action out of I Form and Strong I is the connective tissue here: once you have shown FB Dive and Counter from 22 and 23 personnel, the boot and PA shot concepts pull linebackers forward and open the intermediate throws behind them.

Pistol is the wrinkle at 17 plays (9%) across 2 sets, giving you a middle ground where the back is still behind the quarterback for run reads but sightlines are cleaner than true under center looks. Goal Line Offense adds 9 plays from 1 set for short yardage, and Hail Mary contributes 3 plays across 2 sets including Goal Post for end of half desperation. Choosing Sim Focusedtargeting Ba Offense over a pure spread book means accepting fewer exotic Shotgun sets in exchange for a real fullback run game, three tight end goal line looks, and the play action leverage that only comes from actually running the ball from condensed formations.

Scheme Fit

Sim Focusedtargeting Ba Offense wants a physical offensive line that can pull and drive block for Power, Counter and Trap, a fullback with real blocking and impact blocking ratings, and a between the tackles back with high trucking, break tackle and carry ratings rather than a pure scatback. At quarterback, accuracy on intermediate and deep throws matters more than speed since the Play Action and Cover 3 Beater concepts ask you to hold in the pocket and throw off run action, though Pistol's 17 plays reward a passer who can climb the pocket cleanly. Pick this book if you enjoy grinding out a lead with under center run volume from I Form and Strong I and then punishing over aggressive run fits through Shotgun and Singleback pass concepts, and pass on it if your roster is built around a mobile quarterback and four receiver spread looks.

Strengths

  • Genuine two back identity: with 21, 22 and 23 personnel available across I Form (38 plays), Strong I (28 plays) and Goal Line Offense (9 plays), you can run FB Dive, Power and Counter behind a lead blocker, something spread heavy books with only 10 and 11 personnel cannot replicate no matter how you hot route.
  • Play action leverage that is actually earned: the Play Action concept tag paired with a heavy under center run volume means your PA boots off I Form and Strong I pull linebackers out of intermediate zones, and the Cover 3 Beater plays punish the single high looks defenses use to stop the run.
  • Personnel disguise through formation subs and audibles: Singleback's 5 sets and Shotgun's 4 sets both live in 11 and 12 personnel, so you can motion a tight end, shift the line, and present run or pass from identical alignments without burning a timeout to change groupings.
  • Balanced 26/24/20 split at the top means no single formation flags your tendency early, forcing opponents to defend Shotgun Curls and Bench route combos and Strong I gap runs from the same drive.
  • Short yardage and end of game coverage: 9 Goal Line Offense plays from 1 set handle inside the five, while Hail Mary's Goal Post gives you a scripted end of half answer rather than improvising from Shotgun.

Weaknesses

  • Only 7 formations total, and with Goal Line Offense (5%) and Hail Mary (2%) eating 12 plays of situational work, your real drive to drive menu is effectively four formations plus Pistol. Good opponents will have seen every set by the second half.
  • Shotgun at 4 sets and 50 plays is thin for a book that wants to throw: there is no Empty or spread trips volume listed here, so third and long tends to funnel through the same Curls and Bench style combos that man coverage users can pattern match and sit on.
  • Heavy 2 RB usage (21, 22, 23) tips personnel before the snap. When you sub in a fullback for I Form or Strong I, the defense can safely check to run fits and heavy zone without fearing four verticals.
  • Pistol at 17 plays across only 2 sets is too shallow to build a full RPO or option package around, so you cannot lean on it as a change of pace the way a Pistol heavy book can.
  • Only 10 personnel appears with no listed four receiver formation volume, which limits your ability to stretch the field horizontally when you need chunk yardage fast without a timeout.

Usage Tips

Build your primary audible package around Shotgun (4 sets) and Singleback (5 sets) so you can flip between 11 and 12 personnel pass concepts on first and second down without a substitution tell, then reserve I Form and Strong I as a separate package you bring on for short yardage and clock killing.

Use Strong I and I Form on second and short through fourth and goal: run 0 1 Trap and FB Dive to establish interior displacement, then call the Play Action tagged plays from the exact same look once the linebackers start crashing.

Save 45 Quick Base and the Toss and Counter concepts for when the defense stacks the A gaps against your Dive and Power calls, using the extra blocker from 22 and 23 personnel to get numbers on the perimeter.

On third and medium, go Shotgun Curls or Bench and hot route the inside receiver to a sit or drag against man, since this book's Cover 3 Beater plays are better suited to first and second down shots than to converting against pressure.

Keep Goal Line Offense as a dedicated formation audible for inside the five and short yardage fourth downs, and only load Hail Mary (Goal Post) at the end of a half or a game where you need a jump ball rather than a two minute drive concept.
