Breakdown

Texans Deep In lines up out of Shotgun Y Trips Wk with a trips look to one side and a single receiver detached on the backside. At the snap the backside X runs a deep dig that breaks hard across the middle, the middle trips receiver climbs a vertical seam, the outer trips receiver runs a corner curl underneath, and the HB releases into the flat for a screen with the offensive line setting up alley blockers. This is a Cover 3 and Cover 4 beater built around the dig sitting down in the void behind the flat defenders and in front of the deep third or deep quarter safety, so the primary read progression starts with the deep in breaker, works to the seam if the middle of the field opens, and checks down to the HB screen if the underneath defenders sink too fast.

Usage Tips

Presnap identify whether the defense is showing two high safeties or a single high look, since the deep in route is your go to answer against both Cover 3 and Cover 4 shells

If the corner over the deep in receiver plays outside leverage, hot route that route to a hard slant to shrink the throwing window and beat inside leverage instantly

Use the HB screen as a built in answer to blitz heavy defenses, it punishes overaggressive user blitzers and nano blitz packages that send extra rushers off the edge

Pair this play with Dagger Y Whip or Fl Dig from the same set so the defense has to respect multiple deep in and dig concepts, making it harder for user linebackers to sit on the middle read

Best called on second and long or third and medium situations where defenders are more likely to sink into zone drops, giving the deep in route time to develop and sit in the window
