Presnap, check for a single high safety since that alignment confirms Cover 1 or Cover 3, both of which the corner route is designed to beat with proper timing. Watch the flow of the linebackers after the play action fake, if they step up hard on the run fake you have a clean window to the corner route or the underneath crossers. Identify the cornerback's leverage before the snap, inside shade or tight man alignment tells you the corner route has room to break outside for the throw. Post snap, look for a user controlled defender sitting in a lurk position over the middle since that indicates the defense is selling out to jump the crossing routes and take away the easy checkdown. Hot route the underneath crosser into a quick out or spot if you see a linebacker sitting in the throwing lane, giving yourself a checkdown against zone drops.

Pair this with HB Base or HB Mid Zone earlier in a drive to sell the run fake, then dial up PA Shot Corner once the defense starts crashing downhill on early down runs.
