Breakdown

Goaline Fade is a one on one man beater built out of Shotgun Y Trips Wk that isolates your boundary receiver on a fade route while the trips side runs off coverage to clear space. The concept is designed for tight red zone or goal line situations where you need a jump ball opportunity against a single high safety or straight man coverage. The primary read progression starts and ends with the isolated fade route, so this is a one read shot play where you throw based on leverage and separation rather than working through multiple options.

Defensive Reads

Check the isolated corner's press alignment before the snap, tight press with no safety help over the top signals man coverage that this fade route destroys Look for a single high safety shell, if the deep defender is shaded to the trips side the boundary fade is in true one on one coverage and should be attacked immediately Watch for cloud or bracket coverage where a corner and safety both key the fade side receiver, this shuts the play down and forces a checkdown or throwaway Post snap, track any user controlled defender jumping the route from an underneath zone drop since some defenses disguise a soft zone look before rotating a corner or safety into the fade's throwing lane Beware of quarters coverage shells where the safety stays high and reads the quarterback's eyes, delaying your release point can bait the safety before delivering the ball

Usage Tips

Use this play almost exclusively inside the five yard line or in tight end zone fade situations where a jump ball favors your receiver

Pre snap, identify if the defense is showing man coverage with the corner playing inside or outside leverage on the isolated receiver before the snap

If you see a safety rotating over the top or a cloud coverage shell bracket forming on that side, consider audibling out since this play has no answer for double coverage

Hot route the trips side receivers into quick hitches or drag routes if you need a checkdown against a heavy blitz look

Pair this call with Slot Fade or Y Corner H Option earlier in a red zone series so the defense has to respect multiple fade and corner combinations, softening their bracket tendencies on this specific throw

Snap the ball with anticipation and lead your receiver away from the defender's positioning, throwing a back shoulder ball if the corner is playing outside leverage
