Cover 3 with a hard flat defender squatting underneath can disrupt the shallow drag, so be ready to progress quickly to the deep in route rather than forcing the first read.

Usage Tips

Use this against Cover 4 or Cover 2 shells where the safeties are showing deep half or deep quarter responsibilities, since the two go routes are designed to hold those defenders and open the middle for the drive route.

Check the flow of the linebackers at the snap, if they sink hard to cover the drag you want to hit the deep in crossing route right behind them in the vacated window.

This play works best on second and medium to second and long when you have time to let the deep in develop, since it takes a few extra beats to clear the shallow drag and reach its window.

Pair this with Four Verticals or PA Shot Go's from the same set to condition the defense into respecting the vertical shell, then come back to Vikings Drive to attack the same coverage look with the horizontal crossers underneath.
