The diagram shows the receiver motioning across the formation and receiving the touch pass just behind the line, while the outside WR runs an in-breaking route to help seal the edge and other receivers occupy the deep defenders vertically. This is a quick-hitting run replacement concept designed to beat overpursuing linebackers and aggressive edge defenders, with the primary read being the jet motion man himself as the auto first option on the touch pass.

Defensive Reads

Watch the flow of the linebackers at the snap since overaggressive run fits to the jet motion side get gashed by this touch pass hitting behind them. Key the play side cornerback and outside linebacker depth pre-snap, if they are sitting too far off the line the touch pass has a clean lane to develop. Post-snap, user a linebacker or slot defender to sit on the touch pass window since AI defenders often bite on the horizontal motion and lose contain. This concept struggles against disciplined zone defenses that stay home and squeeze the edge, particularly Cover 3 sky or Cover 4 with linebackers reading run action first. Man coverage with a blitzing edge defender is the best defense against this play since there is minimal blocking to protect the touch pass release point.
