Jet Sweep

Key the play side defensive end and outside linebacker before the snap, since a fast flowing edge defender who squeezes down hard can blow this play up before the ball carrier turns the corner. Watch for defenses that overload the box with extra defenders near the line of scrimmage, as this cuts off the sweep lane and forces a negative play. Identify user controlled defenders flying to the flat immediately at the snap, since a good user read on jet motion is the number one killer of this concept. Check safety depth and alignment presnap, because a safety rotating down quickly into the alley signals the defense is prepared for the edge run and you should consider audibling to an inside run or misdirection instead. Look for linebackers who overrun the play by chasing motion too aggressively, since that flow opens a cutback lane behind them if the sweep blocking seals the edge.
