The offensive line slides to protect the rollout, and this is a play-action man beater and zone beater against overaggressive run fits, with the primary read progression going Y leak in the shallow crossing lane first, then working up to the deep corner route on the backside if the leak is covered.
Defensive Reads
Watch linebacker depth and flow pre-snap: if they are stacked tight to the box, they are likely to bite on the run fake and vacate the leak lane for the Y route. Identify single-high safety looks since the deep corner route on the backside can exploit Cover 3 or Cover 1 if the corner bites on the boot action. Post-snap, key the flow of the middle linebacker and any user-controlled lurk defender, as a disciplined LB sitting in the crossing lane can jump the Y leak route and blow up the primary read. Against Cover 2 or Cover 4 shells with safeties staying deep, expect the corner route to be less available, so the leak underneath becomes the higher percentage throw. Blitz packages that bring extra rushers off the boot side can collapse the pocket quickly, so check the edge defender's leverage pre-snap and be ready to throw off rhythm to the leak route if pressure arrives early.

Pre-snap, check for man coverage indicators like a safety cheating over the TE or corners in press, since the Y leak crossing route is a strong man beater against linebackers who chase the fake.
If you see two-high shells or zone drops flooding underneath, use the leak route as a check-down and progress immediately to the deep corner route for an explosive play over the top.
Pair this play with HB Zone Wk or Jet Sweep earlier in a sequence so the defense respects the jet motion and run fakes, making the boot action more believable and opening throwing lanes.
Best called on second and short or first down after establishing inside zone or duo runs, since defenses keying run support will be most vulnerable to the boot fake and leak concept.
