Jet Sweep out of Singleback Ace 12 personnel motions a receiver in orbit fashion across the formation right before the snap, and the QB hands off to the motion man on the toss sweep to the edge. The line and TEs seal down inside while the playside blocks reach outside to spring the runner around the corner, with the diagram showing the ballcarrier bending upfield once he clears the edge. This is a pure run play designed to attack overset defenses and gap integrity, with the primary read being the edge alignment: bounce outside if the corner or SAM is sealed, or press through the alley if the defense overpursues the motion.
Watch linebacker depth and flow pre-snap since aggressive downhill linebackers who key the backfield motion will overrun the sweep and open a cutback lane. Identify if the defense sets an EDGE or DE with outside contain responsibility, because unblocked edge defenders with contain assignments are the primary counter to jet sweep. Check safety alignment before the snap since a single high safety cheating to the play side can erase the edge, while two high shells generally leave more room to bounce outside. Look for user-controlled defenders flying to the motion in man coverage, which can be exploited if the sweep blocking wins the edge and turns the corner before help arrives. Heavy blitz packages that bring extra defenders off the edge or send the SAM/WILL on a run blitz can blow this play up before the blockers set their angles.
Use jet sweep in first and second down situations to keep defenses honest against your dropback pass game out of the same formation and personnel. Watch the defensive front pre-snap: if the defense shows a heavy inside shell or the EDGE crashes hard down the line, this play can get spilled quickly, so save it for lighter fronts or when the defense is in a two high shell without extra run support. Pair this with PA Jet Sweep and Zone Fake Jet from the same set to freeze linebackers who start keying the jet motion, since the play-action counterpart punishes overaggressive flow to the sweep. Motion the jet man early enough pre-snap so the CPU or user defender has to declare man or zone responsibility on him, which gives you a clean pre-snap read on coverage rotation. On the snap, user the playside TE or tackle briefly to ensure the reach block seals the edge defender before releasing to the second level.
