Ace WR Stretch is an outside zone run out of Singleback Ace with 12 personnel (1 RB, 2 TE) that hands the ball off to the HB running an outside zone stretch path toward the left flat. The line and both tight ends flow laterally to stretch the defense horizontally, sealing edges and creating cutback lanes, while the backside receiver runs a vertical release to occupy the deep defender and the frontside receiver arcs across to block or clear space. This is a zone run play with the primary read being the frontside edge: the ball carrier presses the line of scrimmage and reads the flow of the double team and TE reach block before deciding to bounce outside or cut inside off the double team's push.
Watch for run-fit linebackers who flow too fast laterally, this play beats overaggressive fill defenders by cutting back against the grain. Read the edge defender's leverage pre-snap: if the defensive end is crashing hard inside, bounce the run outside immediately off the TE reach block. Stacked boxes with 8 or more defenders shut this play down quickly since there is no extra gap advantage, avoid calling it into heavy run blitz looks. Post-snap, key the play side linebacker's first two steps, if he flows outside with the stretch action a cutback lane opens behind the double team. Watch for user-controlled defenders spying the backfield or crashing the edge, since a disciplined edge defender who stays home can string this run out for a minimal gain.
Use Ace WR Stretch on early downs like 1st and 10 or 2nd and short to keep defenses honest against a run-heavy personnel grouping.
Check the defensive front pre-snap: if the defense is in a light box with 6 or fewer defenders in the box, this play hits fast off the edge.
Motion or shift the backside receiver if you see man coverage to create natural rub traffic and slow down flow-and-fill linebackers.
User the frontside TE or fullback-type blocker to seal the edge defender if the CPU AI is slow reacting to the stretch flow.
Pair this with 26 Duo or HB Counter Str in the same set to keep linebackers guessing between stretch flow and downhill gap runs, then hit HB Pump Draw once they start flowing hard to the sideline.
