Franchise Playsheet
Shot Plays is a compact 27 play situational sheet built around three formations and six sets, which puts it in the bottom tier for size (larger than only 7% of the game's 42 offensive franchise playsheets). That is the entire point. This is not a full weekly game plan book, it is a curated shot and situation sheet where every call has a job. Shotgun carries the load at 12 plays (44%) across 2 sets, Singleback fills in at 9 plays (33%) across 2 sets, and I Form closes it out at 6 plays (22%) across 2 sets. Three personnel groups cover the whole thing: 11, 12 and 21, which means you can cycle from three wide spread looks to two back power without ever leaving the book.
The concept list tells you how it wants to score. Duo, Power Run, Iso, Dive and Outside Zone give you a downhill and stretch run menu out of the heavier I Form and Singleback sets, while Bench, In, Crosser, Curl and Misdirection give you the intermediate zone beaters and route combos you need on third down. HB Draw out of Shotgun is the counterpunch to a heavy pass rush, Corner N Go's is the vertical shot that makes single high safeties pay, and Ace WR Stretch is the Singleback wide zone that sets up every play action and misdirection look behind it. Because the book only has 27 plays, you will know all of them cold inside of a few games, which matters when you are making pre snap adjustments with a play clock running down.
Choosing Shot Plays over a bigger book is a trade: you give up formation variety and deep situational packages in exchange for a tight, memorizable sheet with a genuine run identity and a clean Shotgun passing core. It fits a player who already has a base playbook they trust and wants a focused sheet for specific game situations, or a franchise player who would rather master 27 plays than skim 150. The 44/33/22 split across Shotgun, Singleback and I Form means you are never locked into one personnel look, but you are also never more than two formations away from your best call.
Shot Plays wants a downhill back who can handle Duo, Iso and Dive volume plus a fullback or second back with real run blocking, since 22% of the book is I Form and the Singleback sets lean on Outside Zone. At quarterback you need accuracy on intermediate throws more than legs, because the Shotgun core is built on Bench, In, Crosser and Curl timing with Corner N Go's as the shot, though a quarterback with some mobility gets extra value out of the Misdirection calls. Pick this book if you already know your base scheme cold, prefer a short memorizable sheet over formation variety, and want a roster with big bodied blockers up front and at tight end rather than a four wide speed team.
Search every playbook by tag and personnel grouping, not just Shot Plays.
Build your audible package inside one Shotgun set and load it with HB Draw, a Curl or In concept, and Corner N Go's, then use that set on every second and medium and third and 5 to 8 so you can change the call without changing the picture.
Reach for the Singleback sets on first and 10 and run Ace WR Stretch early, because the Outside Zone look is what makes the Misdirection and play action calls in this book believable later in the drive.
Save I Form and 21 personnel for third and 1, fourth and short and anything inside the 5, where Duo, Power Run, Iso and Dive out of the 2 back look let you audible between two run directions after reading the front.
Motion a receiver across on the Bench and Crosser combos to diagnose man versus zone before the snap, then hot route the back on a flat or wheel if the defender travels, since this book does not carry a deep bank of dedicated man beaters.
Because the sheet is only 27 plays, rotate your Shotgun calls deliberately rather than by feel: use Crosser and Curl on early downs and hold Corner N Go's for when you have confirmed a single high safety.
