Breakdown

Corner N Go's is a two man route concept out of Shotgun Tight Slots with only two receivers pushing vertically off the diagram, both running quick out and up stems into corner routes that break outside toward the sideline. The remaining receivers stay in to help protect or run shallow outlet routes as shown by the yellow drag lines crossing under the corners, giving the quarterback a built in checkdown if the corners are covered. This is a man beater concept designed to attack off coverage or man defenders with the sharp out and up break, and the primary read progression starts with the corner route to the play side (yellow), then works to the backside corner (red) if the first read is blanketed, before checking down to the underneath crossers.

Defensive Reads

Watch for cornerbacks playing outside leverage pre-snap since that alignment invites the corner route to break open against man coverage. If the safety rotates late to a two high shell, the corner routes will likely run into help over the top, so be ready to check down to the crossing routes underneath. Identify user controlled defenders sitting in the flat or lurking at the sticks, since they can jump the underneath drag routes and bait a throw. Zone coverage with linebackers sinking hard will clog the shallow crossers, so trust the corner routes if the corner is playing soft off man. Heavy blitz packages will remove short zone defenders, so if you see extra rushers, get the ball out quickly to whichever drag route clears the box fastest.

Usage Tips

Look for single high safety shells pre-snap since corner routes exploit defenders who have to flip their hips late.

Motion or shift the slot receivers pre-snap to confirm man coverage before committing to the corner reads.

Use hot routes to convert one of the underneath drag routes into a quick out if you see a hard blitz look, giving you a faster outlet.

This play works best on second and long or third and medium situations where the defense is more likely to sit in man coverage to take away the sticks.

Pair this play with Curl Outs or Stick from the same set to keep the defense honest, since both punish zone drops that would otherwise sink under the corner routes.
