Defensive Reads

Watch for a linebacker or safety flowing hard toward the jet motion before the snap, that is a strong indicator the defense respects the run fake and will be out of position on the vertical release. Check the safety alignment before the snap, if you see a single high safety cheating toward the run flow or a corner squatting for run support, this is your green light to throw off the fake.

Use jet motion pre-snap to force the defense to declare man or zone, if a defender follows the motion man across the formation you are likely seeing man coverage and the vertical release will have a step on a trailing corner.
