Defensive Reads

Watch the linebackers depth and width at the snap, if they crash hard toward the jet motion it confirms run blitz or contain and opens up both verticals immediately. Usage Tips
Use this on early downs like first or second and short to medium yardage when the defense has shown run support tendencies against jet motion looks. Watch pre-snap for safeties creeping down or a linebacker cheating outside toward the motion, that is your green light to trust the play action shot. If the corner over the sweep-side receiver bails deep pre-snap into a zone drop, hot route him to a quicker out or hitch to punish soft coverage. Pair this with actual Jet Inside Zone or Read Option from the same set earlier in a series so the defense keys run action and bites, then hit them with this shot play once they overplay the sweep look. On third and long, lean on the backside comeback route since defenders often sink and turn their back to it late in zone drops.
