Overview

The NFL Live Redskins Offense is functionally the same book as its sibling cut, Redskins Offense. They share all 631 plays and differ by zero sets, so the choice between them is cosmetic rather than strategic. If you already know one, you know the other: nothing gets added, nothing gets cut, and no formation disappears from your audible wheel when you swap.

What you are getting is one of the largest offensive team playbooks in the game, bigger than 98% of the 64 team offenses, built around a heavy Shotgun core. 382 of the 631 plays (61%) live in Shotgun across 23 different sets, which is more Shotgun variety than most users can realistically learn in a season. Singleback backs it up with 141 plays (22%) over 10 sets, and Pistol adds 66 plays (10%) across 5 sets as the middle ground between the two. I Form is a thin 27 plays (4%) in just 2 sets, Goal Line Offense gets a single 12 play set, and Hail Mary is 3 plays across 2 sets for end of half situations.

The concept list matches the spread: Play Action, Pass Play, Spot, Flat, Cover 3 Beater and Motion carry the passing game, while Power, Power Run, Counter, Toss and Dive give you a run tree that mostly operates out of Shotgun and Singleback rather than under center. Personnel runs from 23 and 13 heavy sets all the way down to 10 and 01 spread looks, so you can open in empty, motion into a condensed 12 personnel look, and still call Power from the same audible package. This is a game plan for a user who wants to live in Shotgun, dictate with pre-snap motion, and use Pistol as the disguise layer for run and play action.

Scheme Fit

This book wants a quarterback who is comfortable operating from Shotgun on the majority of snaps, with enough accuracy on short and intermediate throws to live off Spot, Flat and Cover 3 Beater concepts, and enough mobility to escape on play action rollouts. A receiving back who can align in the slot out of 20 and 10 personnel and a pair of tight ends who can block in 12 and 13 looks unlock the formation sub flexibility that makes the Pistol and Singleback run game credible. Pick the NFL Live Redskins Offense if you are a gun heavy passer who wants a huge set list to hide tendencies; pass on it if your roster is built around a fullback and a power back, because 27 I Form plays will not support that identity.

Strengths

  • Shotgun depth at 382 plays over 23 sets means you can build multiple full audible packages that never show the same set twice in a drive, and the Cover 3 Beater and Spot concepts give you an answer to both single high and match zone without leaving the formation.
  • Pistol's 66 plays across 5 sets let you run Power, Counter and Toss from a look where the back's alignment does not tip direction, which a pure Shotgun heavy book cannot replicate.
  • The personnel range from 23 and 13 down to 01 and 10 supports formation subs that put a receiving back or an extra tight end on the field without a personnel change the defense can read, and motion concepts are built in to confirm man or zone before the snap.
  • 141 Singleback plays over 10 sets give you a real play action and Power Run base when you want to sell run from balanced personnel, which keeps your Shotgun passing game from becoming the only thing on tape.
  • Goal Line Offense with 12 plays plus Dive and FB Dive style calls means the red zone package is self contained, so you are not forced to pass from the two yard line.

Weaknesses

  • 61% of the book is Shotgun, so a competent opponent will set their base coverage and blitz packages for gun looks and dare you to beat them under center.
  • I Form is only 27 plays across 2 sets, which makes true downhill lead runs and deep play action rollouts from under center hard to find when you need to bleed clock in the fourth quarter.
  • Goal Line Offense is a single 12 play set, so short yardage tendencies get readable fast if you rely on FB Dive and similar calls more than once or twice a game.
  • 631 plays across 43 sets is a lot of surface area and most of it goes unused, meaning the practical playbook is far smaller than the file size suggests and time spent scrolling is time off the play clock.
  • The run concept list (Power, Counter, Toss, Dive) is conventional and largely gun based, so there is no exotic option or heavy read game to punish an opponent who commits a user defender to the box.

Usage Tips

Build your primary audible package entirely from Shotgun sets, ideally one spread 10 or 11 set for third and long, one condensed 12 set for early downs, and one 20 or 21 set that keeps a receiving back available as a check down.

Use Pistol on first and second down between the 20s: its 5 sets carry the Power, Counter and Toss calls with a play action tie in, which is the cleanest way to punish an opponent who has started reading your Shotgun run alignment.

Reserve Singleback for second and medium and for clock control, where its Play Action and Power Run pairings out of 10 sets let you show the same look twice and flip it.

Save I Form for goal to go and four minute offense only. With just 2 sets you cannot hide tendencies there, so use it as a change up rather than a base.

Motion a receiver across the formation before the snap on your Spot and Flat concepts to confirm coverage, then hot route the backside receiver to a quick out if the defense shows press man.
