Wing Tight U is the heaviest look Singleback has to offer, running 13 personnel with one back, three tight ends, and a single wide receiver. The alignment stacks an inline tight end plus a wing tight end off his outside hip on the strong side, with the third tight end flexed as the U closer to the ball on the weak side and the lone X isolated to the open side. That distribution gives you seven or eight potential blockers at the point of attack without going under center, so you keep the shotgun run reads and the quick RPO timing while presenting a run-first personnel shell that pulls base and 4-3 fronts onto the field.
What separates this set from Bunch, Tight Slots, or the spread Singleback looks is that the defense has to declare against the run before you ever motion anybody. Once your opponent checks into a heavy box or single high with the strong safety cheating down, the play-action tree opens up: PA Jet Sweep, PA Sprint HB Flat, Zone Fake Jet, Fake HB Zone QB Boot, and Mtn PA Power O all sell the same downhill gap and inside zone action you have been hammering with HB Power O, 26 Duo, Split Zone Strong, and HB Counter Str. The Mtn tags matter in Madden because they give you max protection concepts that hold your play-action shots together against sim pressure.
The isolated X is the real matchup lever. With three tight ends condensed to the middle of the field, defenses tend to leave the single receiver on an island in a soft corner shell or slide their extra help to the strength, which turns Sluggo Spacing and Stick Nod Vertical into clean one-on-one shots. Meanwhile the wing tight end is a nightmare for linebackers in man coverage on TE Attack and PA U-Drag Wheel, since he releases into space off the wing alignment with a running start instead of fighting a press corner. Gadget looks like Jet Sweep add a horizontal element that forces user defenders to overcommit to the flow.
Establish HB Power O and 26 Duo early to force the strong safety into the box, then punish that commitment with PA Sprint HB Flat and Mtn PA Power O for shots behind the linebacker level.
Read the corner over your isolated X pre snap: soft outside leverage means Stick Nod Vertical or a hot routed fade, while press with no deep help means Sluggo Spacing for the double move.
On third and short use HB Dive or Split Zone Strong instead of a pass, since 13 personnel gives you the extra hat and forces the defense to stay in base against your run game.
Motion the wing tight end across the formation pre snap to identify man versus zone, then check into PA U-Drag Wheel if a linebacker follows him across the field.
Against A gap pressure, stick to the Mtn tagged plays for max protection, or hot route the flexed U tight end to a slant as a quick answer to the blitz side.
