Wing Tight Nasty is the heaviest look in the Singleback family, running 13 personnel with one back, three tight ends, and a single wide receiver. The alignment stacks two tight ends tight to one side with a wing back off the line, creating an unbalanced surface that forces the defense to declare its strength before the snap. Unlike Singleback Wide or Doubles, where the defense can sit in a static two-high shell and play coverage math, Wing Tight Nasty pulls a safety or an extra linebacker down into the box, which is exactly what you want when your run game is built on Duo, Counter Strong, and HB Stretch.
Live in this set on second and short and third and short where the defense has to respect Duo and Counter Strong, then punish the run commit with Mtn PA Y-CoPo or Mtn HB Smash.
Read the safety count before the snap: single high with a linebacker walked down means run Counter Strong or HB Stretch away from the pressure, two high means throw Dig Y-Wheel or Stick Spacing.
Hot route the wing back to a drag or a slot cross against man coverage to create a rub with the tight end vertical, and motion the receiver across to confirm man or zone.
Use HB Inside Zone and Duo early to build a run tendency, then run PA U-Drag Wheel from the exact same look to catch the linebackers stepping downhill.
When you see heavy pressure looks, block the wing back and check the running back to a quick out as your pressure release valve instead of letting protection break down.
