Franchise College Spread Offense is a 207 play specialty offense that commits harder to one formation family than almost anything else in the game: 186 of its plays (90%) live in Shotgun across 14 different sets. That is not a lean, that is the entire identity. You are picking a book that asks you to win from one alignment and one quarterback depth, then win again by attacking from 14 different personnel and split variations of it. The remaining 21 plays are split between a 12 play Goal Line Offense set, a single 6 play Pistol set, and 3 Hail Mary plays across 2 sets, so the entire non-Shotgun portion of this playbook is smaller than most books' single most-used formation.
The concept sheet reads like a modern college spread translated into Madden: Power and Power Run gap schemes, Counter, Toss, Dive, and Run Play entries paired with Play Action, Spot, Flat, Cover 3 Beater and Motion tags on the pass side. That combination is the point. Because you are almost always in Shotgun with the same quarterback depth, your Power and Counter runs and your Play Action shots share identical pre-snap pictures, which is exactly the conflict RPO-style and play-action heavy users want to create. Dual TE Flat and 46 Y Cross show the range inside the Shotgun block: a two tight end flood concept and a deep crossing Cover 3 beater from the same formation family. FB Dive out of Goal Line Offense and Goal Post from Hail Mary cover the two situations Shotgun cannot solve on its own.
Personnel is where the depth actually comes from. This book carries 23 (2 RB, 3 TE, 0 WR), 12 (1 RB, 2 TE, 2 WR), 11 (1 RB, 1 TE, 3 WR), 20 (2 RB, 0 TE, 3 WR) and 10 (1 RB, 0 TE, 4 WR), so you can go from an empty-ish four wide look to a heavy two back, three tight end grouping without ever changing the fact that your quarterback is in the gun. Choosing Franchise College Spread Offense over a balanced book means trading formation variety for personnel variety and repetition. You will know every one of your 14 Shotgun sets cold, your audible package will be dense with plays that all start from the same look, and your opponent will be defending personnel rather than alignment.
This playbook wants a mobile quarterback with real accuracy on the move, because 90% of your snaps come from Shotgun with Play Action, Counter and Power all sharing the same pre-snap picture and your escape lanes are the only thing keeping the pass rush honest. Surround him with a receiving back who can align in the slot out of 20 and 10 personnel, at least two tight ends with run block and route running grades to make the 12 and 23 groupings credible, and a short yardage back or fullback who can finish FB Dive out of Goal Line Offense. Pick Franchise College Spread Offense if you are a tempo and pre-snap reads player who wants to master 14 sets of one formation rather than juggle a balanced book, and if you are comfortable living without an under center run game.
Search every playbook by tag and personnel grouping, not just Franchise College Spread Offense.
Build your primary audible package entirely out of Shotgun sets: put a Power Run, a Counter, a Spot concept and a Cover 3 Beater like 46 Y Cross in the four slots so you can answer any look without a formation change on first and second down.
Run your 12 and 23 personnel Shotgun sets on first and ten to pull an extra defender into the box, then hit Play Action from the identical alignment on second and medium when the linebackers crash the Power fake.
Save 10 and 20 personnel Shotgun sets for third and six plus, where Flat and Spot concepts with Motion tags give you a pre-snap man or zone read and a quick answer against pressure.
Reach for Goal Line Offense only inside the three. FB Dive is your hammer there, but rotate to a Shotgun call from 12 personnel on second down goal line so the defense cannot sit on the heavy grouping.
Keep the single Pistol set as a change of pace on second and short in plus territory, since those 6 plays are the only snaps in the book that change your quarterback depth and they read completely differently on film.
Reserve Hail Mary and Goal Post strictly for the final snap of a half. With only 3 plays there, calling one early burns your one surprise.
