RPO Alert Bubble is an RPO out of Shotgun Spread 10 personnel that reads the box count to decide between a give and a quick pass. The backside receiver runs a slant breaking inside while the frontside slot bubbles out and the outside receiver on that side pushes vertical on a go route to hold the corner deep. The running back mesh point action to the QB reads the alerted defender: if the box stays light he can hand it off, if a defender flows down he pulls and fires the bubble screen or hits the slant against soft coverage.
Defensive Reads
Watch the flow of the second level defender assigned to the run fit, if he crashes downhill on the mesh point that is your green light to throw the bubble. Check safety depth pre-snap, a single high safety cheating toward the slant side can jump the route and turn it into a pick six against aggressive man coverage. Identify if the defense is in a match zone or true man, since match zone defenders sitting on the bubble flat can undercut the screen for a loss. Look for a nickel blitz or fire zone call, since bringing extra pressure off the edge on the bubble side removes the blocker needed to spring the screen. If the linebacker assigned to the alert key stays home and does not bite on the run action, abort the pass read and trust the handoff for a manageable gain.
Usage Tips
Pre-snap, count the box defenders and identify if the defense is showing run support or spread out in nickel or dime personnel before deciding your alert key.
If the slot corner or nickel defender is sitting outside soft, take the bubble immediately for a free access throw before the flow defender can react.
Use the slant as your man beater against press or man alignment when the backside corner is playing tight technique with no safety help underneath.

Best called on early downs or short yardage where defenses are more likely to sell out on the run, giving you the numbers advantage on the perimeter throw.
