Breakdown

RNS Switch Streak lines up out of Shotgun Spread with a 10 personnel look, using two receivers stacked wide on the right who both push vertically up the seam and sideline in a switch release to create traffic for man defenders. On the left side the X and slot cross paths at the snap, with the outside receiver breaking to a shallow out while the slot receiver switches underneath into a deep streak straight up the numbers. This is a man beater built to exploit press or trail technique, with the switch release designed to rub off defenders and spring the streak runners for a big play. The primary read starts with the boundary streak coming out of the switch route, then works to the two vertical routes on the right side if the deep shot is not there.

Defensive Reads

Look for two deep safeties pre-snap, if the defense shows Cover 2 or Cover 4 the switch streak concept on the left will likely run into help over the top and this play loses value Watch the corner alignment on the switch side, tight press man alignment is a green light since the natural rub from the crossing release will beat sticky coverage Identify any user controlled safety flying down to rob the middle of the field post snap, this is the biggest threat to the streak routes since a lurking safety can undercut the throw Read linebacker depth before the snap, if linebackers are sitting shallow expecting shallow crosses or RPO action they will not be able to affect the vertical stems and the play should hit clean Beware zone blitz packages that disguise as man press then bail into a zone drop, this can bait a bad throw into the streak since the defender who looked to be in man coverage suddenly has help underneath

Usage Tips

Check for single high safety pre-snap since this play thrives when the deep middle is vacated and corners are left on islands in man coverage

Use the switch release on the left to manufacture natural separation against man press corners, the crossing paths at the top of the routes create a pick opportunity that beats sticky coverage

Hot route the underneath out on the left into a hitch or comeback if you see soft zone shells like Cover 3 since the streak concept alone will not beat a zone drop unless you have elite deep speed

Pair this play with RNS Curl Flat or RNS Hook earlier in a drive to set up defenders expecting shorter routes, then hit them with this deep shot once they start jumping underneath concepts

Best used on first and ten or second and short when defenses are more likely to play a base coverage shell instead of loading up on a pattern match blitz
