45 Quick Base is a run play out of Shotgun Spread 10 personnel, showing a dive concept between the guards with the offensive line stepping in unison to seal running lanes. The diagram shows all five receivers running vertical stems upfield to occupy defenders and clear the box, while the running back takes a quick handoff and reads the interior gap created by the line's zone step blocking. This is a downhill run play, not a pass concept, and the primary read progression for the ball carrier is inside first, bouncing outside only if the frontside gap gets clogged by penetration.
Defensive Reads

Usage Tips
Run this play against light boxes when the defense shows five or fewer defenders inside the tackles pre-snap
Use the spread receiver alignment to check safety rotation before the snap, if both safeties stay deep you have a numbers advantage in the run game
Pair this with RPO Peek Slant or RPO Read Slot Slide from the same formation so defenses cannot sit on the run without exposing a slant window
Call this on early downs like first and ten or second and short to keep the defense honest and set up 45 Quick Base as a play-action decoy later in the series
Avoid this call against stacked eight man fronts or when the defense shows an obvious run blitz with linebackers crashing downhill pre-snap
