Slot Seam out of Singleback Doubles lines up two receivers to each side with no true backfield help on the route concept. The backside X runs a comeback breaking outside while the near slot receiver clears vertically off the seam before the concept shows an out breaking route sitting underneath in the middle of the field, and the outside receiver to the strongside runs a corner route flattening the top of the defense while the RB releases into the flat as a checkdown or shallow crosser off play action leverage. This is a man beater at its core, attacking seam voids created by man coverage or matchup mismatches on the slot defender, with the primary read starting on the slot seam runner, then working to the corner route if the safety bites down, and finally checking down to the flat route or comeback as the coverage dictates.

Look at the free safety depth before the snap, since a deep single high alignment signals the seam route will have a tighter window but a bigger reward if the corner route pulls the safety wide Watch the slot cornerback or nickel defender for outside shade versus inside shade, inside shade invites the seam throw while outside shade opens the comeback route on the backside Key the middle linebacker drop after the snap, a shallow zone drop can jump the seam route and turn it into a user pick six if you force the throw Diagnose blitz packages presnap by checking for stacked or walked up linebackers, since a nano blitz through the A gap can collapse the pocket before the seam route fully develops Cover 2 and Cover 4 shells with disciplined safeties sitting on seam routes will shut this concept down, so be ready to check down to the flat or comeback route instead of forcing the vertical throw
Usage Tips
Identify single high safety looks pre-snap because the seam route will split the difference between the corner and the safety in that shell
Motion the slot receiver or check the leverage of the nickel defender before the snap to confirm man coverage, since this concept struggles against solid zone drops from linebackers sitting in the middle of the field
Hot route the flat runner to a drag if you see zone match concepts that flood the underneath, giving you a quicker outlet against a Cover 3 or Cover 4 shell
Use this play on early downs or in third and medium situations where the seam route can pick up chunk yardage before safeties get a chance to rotate over the top
Pair this call with Four Verticals or Sluggo Seam in your play calling sequence so defenses cannot sit on the seam window without opening up deeper shots downfield
