Defensive Reads

This run struggles against gap exchange stunts and disciplined read and react linebackers who stay square and do not bite on the initial zone flow.

Usage Tips

Check the defensive front pre-snap and count the box, if there are six or fewer defenders in the box this play has a clean numbers advantage. Use the left stick to press the play side hole and manipulate linebackers before making your cut, patience is key against inside zone. Pair this with Bounce Inside Zone and Same Side Zone to keep defenses guessing on which gap you are attacking, forcing linebackers to hesitate. Run this on early downs like first and ten or second and short to stay ahead of the chains and set up play action shots later in the sequence. Against defenses that stack the box or bring a nano blitz, consider hot routing the trips receivers into quick screens or checking to an RPO variant from this same set instead.
