Zone coverages like Cover 3 or Cover 4 that keep the slot defender deep are vulnerable since the bubble gets loads of grass underneath. Man coverage with an aggressive nickel corner in press can jump the bubble route, so be ready to keep the run alive if that alignment shows.

Usage Tips

Check the box count before the snap and count defenders inside the tackles versus your blockers to decide run or throw.

If the defense shows an extra man crashing down or a slot corner sitting on the bubble, pull it and hand the ball off instead.

Use the bubble as a built in answer to blitzes since it gets the ball out fast before pressure arrives off the edge.
