Identify one gap or 4-3 under fronts with aggressive edge defenders, as they get sealed easily by the pulling blocker and create a clean cutback lane. Beware of defenses running a bear front or heavy blitz packages that stack extra defenders in the box, since counter blocking schemes can get overwhelmed before the pull develops. Look for a user controlled defender spying the backfield or sitting in the alley, as a disciplined user linebacker can blow up the counter timing by staying home instead of following the flow. Check safety alignment pre snap, since a safety cheating down into the box removes the natural cutback window this play relies on.
