Call this play when you diagnose an aggressive pass rush pre-snap, since the screen is designed to punish edge rushers and blitzing linebackers who fly upfield.

Look for wide 3 or wide 9 techniques from the defensive ends and stacked linebackers showing blitz, both are green lights to trust the screen.

Use the outside vertical routes as a hard count decoy, if the defense shows man coverage with corners pressed on the outside receivers, that usually means the underneath defenders are more isolated and easier for your blockers to seal.

Pair this call with Slot Cross or Double Slants earlier in a drive so the defense keys on quick underneath throws, then dial up HB Slip Screen to punish overaggressive linebacker flow.

On third and short to third and medium, this is a strong change of pace call after running Inside Zone or HB Base, since defenders reading run flow will crash and open the screen lane.
