Defensive Reads

Watch the motion defender at the snap, if a linebacker or defensive back travels with the motion man you have man coverage confirmed and should trust the primary read without hesitation. Identify press corners pre-snap on the post side, aggressive jam technique with no deep safety help is the ideal matchup for this concept and should be your first look. This play struggles against Cover 3 or Cover 4 zone shells with a deep third or deep quarter defender sitting on the post route, so check the corner and safety leverage before committing to the throw.
