Defensive Reads

Watch for a jet or crash blitz off the edge, since Duo blocking cannot always account for an extra defender if the double team is slow to climb to the second level.

Usage Tips

Check the flat defender pre snap before the play clock runs down, if the corner or slot defender is playing off or cushioned deep, throw the alert X Smoke immediately for a free access completion.

Use this against defenses that load the box with 8 or more defenders, since the smoke alert punishes any defense selling out to stop Duo.

If the defense shows man coverage with the corner up tight, hand the ball off and trust the double team blocks at the point of attack.

Pair this with 26 Duo and Zone Split Alert Smoke in the same play calling sequence so the defense cannot key on run tendencies, since all three share similar formation and backfield action.

On early downs use the run action to stay ahead of the sticks, then come back to Close PA Sail or PA Power O out of the same formation once the defense starts crashing down on Duo looks.
