SFT Bounce Zone Wk is an inside zone run out of Bunch X Nasty with motion sending a receiver across the formation before the snap to adjust the box count and get a clean pre-snap look at the defensive front. The bunch package to the play side condenses the formation so the offensive line can climb to zone blocking angles and the running back reads the bounce lane off the frontside double team before working backside if the cutback opens. This is a zone run play designed to attack overpursuing fronts, and the primary read progression is play side double team leverage first, backside cutback lane second.
Key the defensive end and outside linebacker leverage immediately after the snap to see if the play side is sealed or if there is a fast flow defender squeezing the bounce lane. Watch for a linebacker or safety trailing the pre-snap motion, which signals man coverage and often pulls a defender out of the box, weakening run support. Identify if the defense is running a 4i or 3 technique shifted toward the bunch, since heavy fronts on the play side can clog the zone read and force an early cutback. Look for user-controlled defenders spying the running back through the line, a common counter to zone runs designed to jump the cutback lane. This run struggles against gap-sound fronts with disciplined linebackers who stay square and do not overpursue the flow, so avoid this call against defenses that have shown consistent gap integrity on tape.
Use the pre-snap motion to bait linebacker rotation and confirm if the defense is playing man or zone based on whether a defender trails the motion man across the formation.
Call this on early downs, second and short to second and medium, when you want to keep the defense honest between run and pass out of a bunch look.
If the defense shows a stacked box with the linebackers crashing downhill, hot route the fullback or extra blocker to cut off the first free hitter instead of climbing to the second level.
Pair this with Inside Zone and Counter Y from the same set so the defense cannot key on the bunch motion tendency, then mix in SFT Bounce PA Double Post off the identical shift to punish linebackers who bite on the run action.
Attack the play side edge when the defensive end is sealed inside, and only bounce all the way outside if the force defender is out of position after the motion.
