SFT Bounce PA Double Post is a play-action shot play out of Bunch X Nasty in Shotgun 11 personnel. Off the play fake, both bunch receivers push vertical and break into double post routes stacking the middle of the field, while the flat route underneath clears out the shallow zone and the halfback stays in on the fake before checking release. This is a man beater and Cover 2 beater built to punish single high safety looks and split safety shells, with the primary read progression going from the deep post (the one that wins first, usually the safety-side runner) to the second post crossing behind it, then down to the flat if both posts are covered.
Pre-snap, identify the safety alignment: single high shells are the biggest weakness since one defender cannot cover both posts. Watch cornerback depth on the bunch side, if they are playing tight man press expect the posts to separate quickly off the break. Post-snap, key the middle linebacker's drop, if he sits in the passing lane and does not bite on the play fake he can disrupt both post routes and force a checkdown to the flat. User the free safety and rob the throwing lane between the two posts, this is the number one way to shut this play down since the deep middle is the entire concept. Watch for Cover 2 cornerbacks sinking under the first post, if the defense flows to the shallow route the second post crossing behind should come open against the deep safety's help.
Look for single high safety or Cover 2 shells before the snap since the two posts are designed to overload the deep middle and put the free safety in a bind.
Use the play fake fully by holding the animation to freeze linebackers and let the posts develop, this is critical against aggressive defenses that key run first from Bunch formations.
If you see Cover 4 or quarters, target the first post that crosses the safety's face before the second post arrives, the double stack forces a natural pick read for the defender.
Best called on second and medium or third and long when defenses expect a run out of the bunch look, since the play action freeze is more effective against run-heavy fronts.
Pair this with SFT Bounce Zone Wk or Inside Zone earlier in a series so the defense bites on run action, then hit them with this double post shot when they start crashing downhill.
