Defensive Reads
Watch for man coverage indicators like press corners on the bunch and a linebacker walked out over the slot, this is when mesh hurts defenses most. If you see zone drops with linebackers sitting in the shallow crossing lanes, the mesh routes will get picked off early, be ready to reset to the HB sneak. Identify any blitz packages sending extra rushers off the edge, since the HB stays in to help initially before releasing on the sneak, leaving fewer blockers if the pressure gets home late. Key the safety shell before the snap, a two high shell often signals zone match principles that can clog the mesh crossers, while a single high safety usually means more aggressive man coverage up front.
