Double Ins Stack Out

Play diagram for Double Ins Stack Out from Shotgun Tight Y Off in Madden 27

Quick Reference

Breakdown

Double Ins Stack Out is a five-man route concept out of Shotgun Tight Y Off with 11 personnel that stresses the middle of the field with a layered in-route combo while clearing the boundary with an out and a wheel. The backside receiver runs a deep in to the opposite hash while the stacked receivers underneath work a shallow drag to the flat and a shorter in that settles behind the linebackers, creating a natural pick and picture against man coverage. On the strong side the TE releases up the seam then breaks outside on an out route while the RB works from the backfield up the sideline on a wheel, giving you a vertical stretch against zone drops. This is a man beater first with zone beater traits, and the primary read progression starts with the shallow drag or quick in versus blitz, moves to the deep in-route crosser against off coverage, and finishes with the wheel or TE out against zone rotation.

Defensive Reads

Pre-snap, identify if the defense shows Cover 3 or Cover 4 since the deep in-route crosser will have to work through underneath zone defenders sitting in passing lanes. Watch linebacker depth at the snap, if they sink hard to cover the in-routes it opens up the TE out route and RB wheel underneath. User-controlled defenders sitting in a lurk technique in the middle of the field are the biggest threat to the crossing in-routes, so know when the user is baiting that throw. Man coverage with no safety help over the top gets exposed by the wheel route, so watch for single high shells before trusting that shot play. Against a hard blitz look for the shallow drag or short in to come open quickly, since the stacked release naturally rubs off man defenders trying to press.

Usage Tips

Check the safety alignment before the snap, if you see two high safeties the deep in-route crosser will have room to work against a soft zone shell.

Against man coverage, key the stacked receivers immediately since the natural pick from the drag and shorter in creates instant separation for a quick throw.

Use the RB wheel route as a home run shot against man teams that like to blitz linebackers, since it isolates the RB on a slower defender up the sideline.

On third and medium, prioritize the deep in-route since it settles right in the void vacated by underneath zone defenders.

Pair this play with Mesh Spot or Stick from the same set to keep the defense guessing between quick game and intermediate crossers, then hit them with the wheel shot once they start jumping the shallow routes.
