Jet Pass Fk Zone is a jet motion play-fake concept out of Shotgun Doubles that sells the jet sweep action before the QB pulls it and pushes the ball outside. The diagram shows the motion man crossing the formation as a decoy while the offensive line holds a zone blocking look, with the QB reading the edge and delivering (or running) toward the flat off the fake. This is a designed misdirection concept meant to freeze flowing linebackers and force outside contain defenders to hesitate, making it a strong horizontal stretch play against zone-heavy and fast-flow defenses. The primary read starts with the jet motion defender's leverage, then bounces outside to the flat or edge once the fake has drawn linebacker eyes.

Defensive Reads

Watch the flat or CB support defender pre-snap, if they are already cheating toward the boundary before the snap the outside conversion will be covered. Identify linebacker depth at the snap, shallow and aggressive linebackers who crash the jet motion open up the alley this play is designed to exploit. Look for a user-controlled defender spying the backfield instead of respecting the jet motion, that is the biggest killer of this concept. Against man coverage with no flat help, the edge defender's leverage on the snap tells you whether to trust the fake or bail to the checkdown. Teams that play disciplined Cover 3 or Cover 4 with squatting corners tend to shut this down since they do not overreact to the jet action and stay in position.

Usage Tips

Check pre-snap for linebacker flow tendencies since this play punishes defenses that key hard on jet motion and crash inside.

Use this on early downs (1st and 10, 2nd and short) to keep defenses honest and set up your inside zone and HB Counter calls later in the drive.

If the defense shows a fast-flow linebacker who bites on every jet fake, hot route the backside receiver into a quick out to attack the vacated space.

Pair this play with Fake Jet Pass Power and Jet Touch Pass in the same series so defenders cannot sit on the fake or the real handoff.

Against zone shells, take the automatic edge conversion the moment the flat defender squeezes down on run support, since the numbers advantage outside is built into the design.
