Breakdown

Cheat H Out is a bunch based motion pass concept out of Shotgun Bunch TE that uses pre snap motion to flip a bunch receiver into a wide alignment before running an out route into the flat. Post snap, the two remaining bunch receivers clear vertically upfield on wheel and go routes to occupy the deep defenders while the backside X runs an in breaking route underneath, and the offensive line slides protection to handle inside pressure. This is primarily a man beater that leverages the motion to create a natural pick and spacing conflict for man defenders trying to stay attached, with the primary read progression starting on the out route from the motion man, then working to the underneath crossing route, and finally to the vertical shots if the defense bites on the quick game.

Defensive Reads

Watch the corner or slot defender assigned to the motion man before the snap, if he mirrors the motion across the formation you are facing man coverage and the out route wins immediately Key the safeties at the snap, if both rotate to the vertical routes on the bunch side it signals zone coverage and you should work the underneath in breaking route instead Look for a linebacker sitting in a hook zone or spying the underneath crosser, this defender can jump the throwing lane if the quarterback does not move him with eyes first Man coverage teams that blitz off the edge are vulnerable to this play since protection is set to handle interior pressure, but a well timed nano blitz off the backside can collapse the pocket before the out route develops Cover 3 with a hard flat defender sitting on the boundary can take away the out route entirely, forcing the quarterback to climb the progression to the vertical routes

Usage Tips

Use the pre snap motion to identify man versus zone before the snap since defenders following the motion man across the formation confirm man coverage and open up the out route immediately

Hot route the backside in breaking route into a quick hitch or speed out against soft zone shells like Cover 3 to give yourself a faster underneath answer

Take the out route as an automatic answer versus Cover 0 or Cover 1 blitzes since the motion creates natural separation before the defense can adjust leverage

Pair this play with Bunch Levels or Mtn Return Flood Stick in the same set so defenses cannot key on the motion tendency and jump the out route

Best used on early down and medium distance situations where you want a high percentage completion with YAC upside from the flat route
