Quick Slants out of Pistol Spread 10 personnel shows three receivers running slant variations while the backside receiver runs a deep dig/crossing route from the far side of the formation. The two inside receivers on the trips side run quick slants that settle underneath, while the single receiver to the boundary breaks off a sharp slant angling upfield against the grain. Defensive Reads

Check the pre-snap alignment of the slot corner, if he is playing tight man with no safety help over the top, the quick slant to the inside receiver is money.

Use hot routes to convert the deep crossing route into a shallow drag if you see zone coverage shells like Cover 3 or Cover 4, since the crossers natural spacing works better as a zone beater when shortened.

Pair this play with Y Stick or Speed Out from the same set to keep defenses honest, since both plays look identical at the snap but attack different levels.

Snap the ball quickly against blitz-heavy defenses since the slants get the ball out fast and beat most nano blitz packages before pressure arrives.
