I Form Tight is the heaviest look in the I Form family, pairing 22 personnel (two backs, two tight ends) with both tight ends attached to the tackles rather than flexed or split like you get in I Form Twin TE Flex or the wide splits of I Form Pro. The lone receiver aligns as an X on the perimeter, which means defenses that check into single high have to decide whether to double that isolated wideout or leave him on an island against man coverage. That is the core of the set: eight bodies in the box force a run-heavy read from the defense, and every passing concept comes off that heavy shell.
The run tree here is deep and diverse. HB Power O, HB Counter, and 26 Duo give you downhill gap scheme with the fullback as a lead blocker or kickout man, while HB Stretch, HB Off Tackle, and HB Toss attack the edge with the tight end and fullback sealing. HB Toss Crack adds the receiver crack block to widen the alley, and HB Iso, HB Lead, HB Blast, and FB Dive are your short yardage and clock-killing staples. Because the defense sees the same formation on all of them, your run direction and blocking scheme are effectively disguised until the snap.
The passing game leans entirely on play action and mesh concepts, which is exactly what you want out of a heavy set. PA Ctr Shot, PA Power O, PA Boot, and PA TE Corner sell run action before releasing your tight ends and the isolated X downfield. Mesh and Mtn Mesh are your man beaters, using the two attached tight ends crossing underneath to rub off defenders. Goal Line Fade and Z Spot handle red zone work, and the HB Stretch Alert U Pop gives you a built in RPO style alert that punishes crashing linebackers. The Gadget tag comes from FB Fake HB Toss, a legitimate misdirection shot once you have established the toss game.
Read the box first: if the defense stays in base with two high safeties, run HB Power O or 26 Duo downhill, and if they check to single high with a linebacker walked over the tight end, hit PA Ctr Shot or PA TE Corner behind the fill
Establish HB Toss early so FB Fake HB Toss and PA Boot carry real weight later, and use the crack variant when the corner plays soft outside leverage
Against man heavy users, Mesh is your primary call, but hot route the isolated X to a slant or fade first so you have an immediate answer if the mesh gets squeezed by a user defender
On third and short or inside the five, FB Dive and Goal Line Fade give you two completely different answers from the same look, so alternate them to keep your opponent from committing
Add a fullback or tight end blocking hot route on play action calls when you see A gap pressure alignment, and slide protection toward the isolated receiver side where you have the fewest blockers
