Overview

Heavy I is the most single minded playsheet in the game's franchise situational library: 30 plays, one formation, three sets, and nothing else. Every single call comes out of I Form with 22 personnel (2 RB, 2 TE, 1 WR), which means you are lining up with a fullback, a halfback, two tight ends and a lone receiver on literally every snap. The concept list tells you exactly what it wants to do: Counter, Iso, Power, Power Run, Outside Zone, Zone Run and Toss carry the load, with Play Action, Mesh and Motion tags layered in as the counterpunch. FB Dive is the spine of the sheet, the call you lean on when the box is light and you need three yards with zero read time.

Scheme Fit

This playbook wants a mauling offensive line with high Run Block and Impact Blocking, a true fullback with strong Lead Block, two blocking capable tight ends, and a halfback with Trucking, Break Tackle and Carrying rather than elite Speed. The quarterback does not need mobility or a deep arm, just enough accuracy to hit Play Action and Mesh when the box is stacked, though good Play Action ratings help sell the fake out of I Form. Pick Heavy I if you are a clock control, ball security, user controlled ball carrier type who enjoys winning the line of scrimmage and does not need a spread passing menu to feel comfortable.

Strengths

  • Total formation familiarity: because all 30 plays live in I Form across three sets, your entire audible package is one formation deep, so any play can be flipped to any other pre snap without a formation change tell, and you learn every blocking assignment and defensive reaction far faster than on a multi formation book
  • Downhill run variety from a single look: Iso, Power, Power Run, Counter, Outside Zone, Zone Run and Toss all fire from identical alignment, so the same static picture produces gap scheme, zone scheme and perimeter runs, and the defense cannot diagnose direction from personnel
  • 22 personnel forces heavy boxes: two tight ends and a fullback pull base and run stopping packages onto the field, which shrinks the coverage menu you have to beat and makes the Play Action and Mesh calls on this sheet hit against linebackers in space
  • Motion tagged calls give you late leverage: the Motion concepts let you shift strength and re declare the front side after the defense sets, and combined with formation subs (a receiving back at halfback, a third tight end at fullback) you can change what I Form means without changing the huddle picture
  • Elite clock control and short yardage identity: with FB Dive and the Power Run family stacked into 30 plays, this playbook is built to close out leads, convert fourth and one, and punish opponents who cannot stop a lead block on a user controlled ball carrier

Weaknesses

  • Zero formation diversity: one formation and three sets means an opponent who learns your I Form sets has learned the entire playbook, and there is no Gun, Singleback, Pistol or empty look anywhere to reset their read
  • Passing game is a token package: with only Play Action, Pass Play and Mesh listed, you have almost no vertical or true dropback concepts, so third and long from behind is a real problem and you will be hot routing manually to build anything beyond the stock combos
  • Extremely predictable on early downs: the concept list is overwhelmingly Counter, Power, Iso, Toss and Zone Run, so a user who commits a safety down and plays run blitz on first and second down is usually right
  • No spread answers to heavy pressure: without four and five wide sets you cannot force a defense to declare or thin out the box, and nano style edge pressure against a two back set with one receiver leaves you short on quick outlets
  • Trailing late is a weakness by design: 100 percent I Form and 22 personnel is a clock killing build, which is the wrong tool when you need fast tempo, sideline stops and no huddle chunk plays

Usage Tips

Build your audible package entirely inside I Form since that is all you have: slot one gap run (Power or Counter), one zone run (Outside Zone or Zone Run), FB Dive, and one Play Action call so you can flip between all four without a formation change

Use FB Dive and the Power Run concepts on second and short, third and one and goal line, then call the Play Action off the exact same I Form set on the very next similar down and distance to punish the linebackers who are flying up

Live on the Toss and Outside Zone calls when the defense over commits inside: a heavy box against 22 personnel is usually slow to the edge, and these are your only real perimeter answers in the playbook

Save Mesh and the Pass Play concepts for third and medium (five to eight yards) where man coverage from a base personnel defense loses to crossers, and hot route your lone receiver plus a tight end to fill the intermediate gaps the sheet does not draw up for you

Use Motion tagged calls to re declare strength before the snap, especially after the defense shifts its line, and use formation subs to hide a receiving back at halfback so your one dimensional 22 personnel look still threatens the checkdown
