The Cover 2 Man tag identifies every defensive call that pairs two deep safeties splitting the field in halves with tight man coverage underneath (commonly called 2 Man Under), covering 45 plays across 43 sets in 9 formations including Nickel, Dime, 4-3, 3-4, 46, and Quarter. Because the safeties take away vertical routes, underneath defenders can play aggressive trail technique to jam and choke off slants, drags, and mesh concepts.
