Inside Post Out lines up out of Shotgun Trey Y-Flex with three receivers stacked to the boundary, a flexed TE, and a single receiver isolated to the open side. The trips side runs a post from the inside slot that clears vertically through the middle, paired with two out routes at different depths to stretch the field horizontally underneath, while the flexed TE runs a quick option route out of the backfield look and the backside X runs a deep out at the sticks. Defensive Reads
Watch the middle of the field pre-snap, a single high safety means the post has a one on one matchup and should be your first target. Against zone coverage, key the flat defender and curl to flat linebacker, if they widen with the out routes the post window opens up over the middle. Man coverage with no safety help over the top gets shredded by the post route, especially if the defender chasing it does not have inside leverage. Cover 2 shells with two deep safeties clog the post lane, so shift your read to the two out routes stacked at different depths for the easier completion. User controlled defenders sitting in a lurk position over the middle can jump the post route, so look off with your eyes before committing to that throw.
Usage Tips
Check the safety alignment before the snap because a single high safety tips man coverage and opens up the post for a big play down the middle.
If you see two deep safeties split evenly, expect zone underneath and prioritize the out routes over the post since the middle will be crowded.
Use the flexed TE option route as your checkdown against blitz looks, it releases quickly and gives you a safety valve versus pressure.
Call this on early downs or third and medium since the out route combo gives you a reliable conversion if the post is not there.
