Breakdown

PA Corner from Shotgun Tight Y Off Wk uses play action to hold the linebackers before releasing three receivers vertically. The X receiver runs a deep corner route from the boundary, the TE breaks off a vertical stem into a corner route of his own on the same side, and the slot runs a deep post from the opposite side while the last receiver sits on a short hitch or curl as the checkdown. This is a play-action shot play built to attack single high and man coverage, with the primary read progression starting on the TE corner route in the flat-to-deep area, moving to the X corner route on the outside, and coming back to the post or hitch if both are covered.

Defensive Reads

Check the safety alignment before the snap, a single high safety indicates man or Cover 3 which is exactly what this corner combo is designed to beat Watch linebacker depth at the snap, if they step up hard on the play fake it confirms the run action worked and the middle of the field will open for the post route Identify Cover 2 or Cover 4 shells pre-snap since the deep corner routes will run into two deep defenders sitting on top, in that case the hitch or checkdown becomes the better answer Post-snap, key the flat defender or user controlled linebacker dropping into the throwing lane of the TE corner route, a nano blitz or delayed blitz off the edge can also disrupt the play fake timing Watch for a robber or lurk defender sitting in the middle of the field, that defender can jump the post route if the quarterback holds the ball too long

Usage Tips

Sell the run fake by holding the analog stick through the play fake animation so linebackers bite and safeties trigger downhill before you release into the corner routes

Use this on early downs like first or second and short to medium yardage when defenses are more likely to respect the run and play aggressive man or Cover 3 shells

Hot route the checkdown receiver into a deeper drag or spot route against zone heavy defenses if you need an extra outlet versus a Cover 4 shell that squeezes the corners

Pair this with Shuffle HB Corner or Smash Y Pivot earlier in a series so defenders start keying the same run action and safeties commit hard, opening up the double corner concept

Look off the safety to the post side before snapping your throw to the TE corner route, since user controlled safeties will jump the first route they see if you stare it down
