Defensive Reads

Usage Tips
Use the pre-snap motion to identify if the defense is playing man across or zone match, since a defender following the motion man confirms man coverage and tells you the screen has a numbers advantage outside.
Call this on early downs or in obvious run situation counts like 2nd and short to freeze linebackers with the play-action fake and get your screen blockers a full head start.
If the defense shows heavy blitz pre-snap with defensive backs crashing downhill, hot route the screen receiver to release immediately rather than sell the fake too long.
Pair this with PA Fk Cheat Quick Out or PA Behind Fk Cheat Post Cross in the same set so the defense has to respect both the play-action pass game and the screen, making it harder for defenders to sit on the screen route.
Avoid calling this against disciplined zone defenses that keep linebackers home and squeeze screens, since those defenders can read the fake and blow up the blocking wall before it develops.
