Jet Touch Pass is a quick perimeter throw off jet motion designed to get the ball out of the quarterback's hands instantly. The diagram shows the jet motion man running across the formation and turning it into a shovel/touch throw just beyond the line, with a receiver crossing underneath to occupy the second level defender and clear the edge. This is a run-pass hybrid built to punish aggressive run fits and overpursuing linebackers, and the primary read is simply confirming the jet man has space before releasing the touch pass immediately at the snap.
Watch for linebackers cheating outside pre-snap in anticipation of jet sweep action, since that flow directly compromises the touch pass alley. Man coverage on the crossing receiver and tight outside cornerback leverage can shut this down by squeezing the catch point before the jet man gets to full speed. If the defense shows a fast-flow linebacker or a user-controlled defender spying the jet motion, expect the throw to be contested at the catch. Zone shells with a linebacker sitting in the short flat can jump this route since the touch pass has a predictable landing spot near the numbers. Overloaded run blitzes from the play side actually help the offense here since the extra rushers vacate the edge that the jet man is attacking.
Snap the ball as soon as the jet motion crosses the backfield to keep the defense from adjusting to the motion in time.
Use this against defenses that key hard on run motion since linebackers flowing with the jet action open up the touch throw window.
Pair this with Zone Fake Jet and HB Dive from the same set to build a run-pass conflict off identical jet motion, forcing defenders to guess run or pass every snap.
Throw with touch and lead the receiver slightly upfield so he can catch in stride and turn the corner before defenders rally.
Best used on early downs or short yardage where defenses are more likely to sell out against the run and lose contain on the edge.
