Defensive Reads

Check the safety alignment pre-snap, single high shells give you a green light to attack the crosser and seam combo since there is only one deep defender to account for two vertical developing routes. Hot route the RB to a quick release or block assignment if you expect a blitz heavy look, since the play action fake naturally delays the RB check release. Pair this call with Jet PA Cross or Escort PA Cross later in a drive so the defense has to respect multiple crossing shots off similar backfield action. Best used on early downs or second and medium when defenses are more willing to bite on the run fake, since third and long shells tend to sit deeper and shrink the window for the crosser.
