Defensive Reads

Usage Tips
Call this on early downs after showing several dropback pass plays from the same Doubles Y Off Pistol set so the defense keys pass protection and bites on the fake.
Use it as a changeup versus aggressive four man rush teams or defenders who are consistently jumping the snap count, since the delayed action punishes overpursuit.
Motion the slot receiver pre-snap to identify man versus zone, if the defender follows across the formation you are facing man coverage and linebackers will likely be occupied covering rather than reading the backfield.
Pair this play with PA Cross or PA Slot Cross from the same formation so the defense cannot distinguish blocking patterns between the draw and play-action on tape.
Best used on second and medium or first and ten when defenses expect a passing concept off Doubles Y Off, and avoid calling it on clear passing downs where blitz packages are pre-loaded to attack the backfield immediately.
